Comments About The
Dances:
- Swing
& Ballroom
- You probably won't feel comfortable
unless you know some basic ballroom steps; i.e. East Coast
Swing, Fox Trot, Cha Cha, Waltz. (You can usually adequately
"fudge it" with Country Western steps.)
- Contra
Dancing
- Similar to Square Dancing. "The contra
dance form typically starts with a long line of couples facing
each other. A caller provides instruction and directions. As
various figures (many similar to those in square dancing) are
completed, a couple progresses down the line to the end, then
back up to the top, then down again."
- Country
Western
- You won't feel comfortable at these
unless you know the steps. Most groups teach some beginner
steps at the start of the session.
- Singles
Dances
- No special dance skills required to
attend these dances. Dances are typically a mixture of
freestyle social dancing (fast dance, slow dance) to D.J. music
of the 50's to the 90's.
- Square
And Round Dancing
- You won't feel comfortable at these
unless you know the steps. These are probably the most
demanding as far as training required. Square and round dancing
are actually totally different. Round dancing is similar to
ballroom dancing, except the dances hve a cuer and the patterns
are choreographed.
